Job Responsibilities:
• Coordinates agency's Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP) for local DUI offenders.
• Conducts behavioral health screenings and biopsychosocial assessments with clients for purposes of problem exploration, treatment planning, and referral.
• Formulates treatment plans with client input.
• Facilitates at least one of the following groups each week: Parenting Education, Substance Abuse Counseling, Recovery Life Skills, Dual Diagnosis, Adolescent or Multi-Family, PRI, and/or Intensive Outpatient.
• Oversees a caseload of approximately 75 clients. (The number is higher than a “regular” caseload because ADSAP does not normally require as much case management of clients.)
• Manages client caseload, ensuring that all clients have access to services essential to recovery.
• Provides necessary progress reports to collateral contacts in a timely manner.
• Documents services provided -- including client progress, pertinent history, and other client data -- and maintains all records necessary for qualitative and quantitative accountability.
• Participates in client staffing, consultation, and other meetings relative to treatment planning, case review, and policy implementation.
• Conducts drug screens as needed following the chain-of-command protocol.
• Completes transition and discharge planning as appropriate for clients on caseload.
• When not in session, available to speak with potential clients who call in for information or appointments. Handles crisis walk-ins; completes referrals for detoxification/inpatient treatment; and answers questions about ADSAP.
• Strives to achieve a standard of 40% face-to-face time with clients.
• Documents all client services in a timely manner following guidelines set by CARF, Medicaid, DAODAS, and DPH.
• Immediately upon hire, begins process of certification for Clinical Addictions Counselor through APSC and achieves certification within two years of hire date.
• Participates in in-service and other trainings related to the improvement of skills and job performance.
• Conducts educational presentations and provides training and consultation to other agencies and organizations in the community.
• Serves on agency committees as assigned.
• Follows NAADAC Code of Ethics.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a human/social science field.
• Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to fulfill the duties of the position.
• Must meet and maintain minimum qualifications established for the position by the agency and the State of South Carolina.
• Position involves sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount to force frequently or constantly to utilize office equipment.
