Job Description:
Working under the supervision of the Manager of the Technology, Research & Evaluation Division, develops research designs and conducts statistical analyses on large-scale (15+ million records) client-based statistical research databases. Designs, analyzes, and presents complex, non-routine research and statistical studies. Plans and designs all phases of surveys and research projects.

Job Responsibilities:
• Designs, conducts, and analyzes large-scale client-based research projects, including client service episode analysis, archival client data conversion, client matching and synchronization across multiple research databases, quality control/error analysis, and client outcome analysis.
• Designs, conducts, and analyzes special research projects, including substance usage studies, surveys of substance use by demographical criteria, Treatment and Prevention Needs Assessment Studies, Gambling Problem Studies, etc. Trains members of survey teams and supervises subsequent data collection and analysis.
• Prepares charts, tables, and narrative reports for use in written and oral presentations. Documents all research study procedures, protocols, programming, analysis, and results. Participates in conferences and workshops related to substance abuse research.
• Provides design, programming, and analysis expertise to database manager and database programmer as necessary.
• Using a computer, inputs statistical, database, and programming instructions.
• Might be asked to lift, move, and manipulate computer hardware weighing 25 pounds or more.
• Some evening and weekend work will be required. Some overnight travel might be required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
• B.S. degree in Statistics.
• Two years of experience in statistical analysis of health-related datasets.
• Three or more years of full-time experience in data collection, data sampling, data maintenance, data analysis, and data presentation.
• Extensive experience in statistical manipulation of large SQL databases (15+ million records) and programming (writing SQL queries and reports) in SQL.
• Demonstrable fluency with statistical software packages such as Access and Visual Basic and SPSS or SAS.
• Knowledge and experience in research practices and procedures and ability to design complex research studies. Ability to present information effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:
• M.S. degree in Statistics or Biostatistics with courses in applied statistics and data analysis, multi-variate statistics, Big Data Analytics, and Advanced SAS Programming.
• Coursework and demonstrable practicum project work that includes Statistics for the Biological and Life Sciences, Data Analysis, Statistical Methods, Statistical Models, Sampling, and Big Data Analytics.

Salary: $50,000 - $60,000
